Stepping Into Her Role
When Elizabeth Chavez received the Daniel D. Villanueva Student Leadership Endowed Scholarship, she vowed to become a leader within her community and expand her Hispanic heritage pride while helping others. As a senior completing her Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing, and an active volunteer in community organizations, Elizabeth is certainly on the right path to doing just that.
The youngest child of six siblings and the first to pursue a bachelor’s degree, Elizabeth is meeting her goals because of the role models she emulates, including her mother and father, and professors at NMSU who have actively encouraged her to pursue her dreams. One dream in particular is to continue on at NMSU, receiving her Master of Science in nursing administration, and Doctor of Nursing Practice degree before opening a clinic of her own that provides medical services for those who cannot afford them.
